How to be a Successful Soul-winner
How can I be a successful soul-winner? 1st Thessalonians 1 verse 5 says, “For our Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”
Now we all know that the Gospel is mighty to save. Romans 1:16 tells us that the Gospel is the power of God; the dunamis, from which we get the word dynamite, the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. The Gospel is powerful, and if we preach the Gospel, men will be saved. However, let us be careful of saying or speaking the Gospel robotically or mechanically.
I see in 1st Thessalonians chapter 1 and verse 5 two other things necessary in order to be a successful soul-winner. Besides giving the Gospel, there must be the power of the Holy Spirit, and there must be the authenticity of a real Gospel transformed life. So let me put it this way, in order for you to be a successful evangelist, there must first of all be a declaration of the Gospel, the full adequate Gospel as lay out in the Bible, the right declaration. Number 2, there must be a clear dependence on the power of the Holy Spirit, not to look to our own eloquence or intelligence, but to say it is about the Holy Spirit, it is not by might nor by strength nor by power but by My Spirit, saith the Lord. And thirdly, there must be the demonstration of a Gospel transformed life. So three things are necessary, the declaration, the dependence and the demonstration.
All that reminds us a successful evangelist or soul-winner must be a Christ-centered man because you have got to depend on the living Spirit of Christ, and in order for you to have the demonstration of the Gospel transformed life, Christ must live His life in you. And so my friends, what does it take to be a successful soul-winner? I think when you declare the full Gospel, when you depend on the Spirit of Christ, and when you allow the life of Christ to be lived in you, you will be one, because Christ, not you, is lifted up and He will draw all men to Himself.
So let us not just declare, but let us also depend and demonstrate. May God help you to be a successful soul-winner, God bless.
